Ed è anche compatibile con Windows! Così è possibile aprire, modificare e condividere documenti Microsoft Office senza stress.

È possibile navigare in sicurezza con Ubuntu, certi che i propri file e dati resteranno protetti. Di default è fornito un firewall built-in, nonché la protezione da virus. Nel caso in cui appaia qualche potenziale minaccia, forniamo aggiornamenti automatici che è possibile installare con un solo clic. Maggiore sicurezza è offerta da AppArmor, che protegge le applicazioni più importanti, in modo che eventuali attacchi non possano accedere al sistema. Grazie a Firefox e gnome-keyring, Ubuntu mantiene private le informazioni private. Che si acceda al proprio account bancario o che si scambino dati sensibili con amici e colleghi, quando serve con Ubuntu è possibile stare sereni.

Inkscape è in grado di caricare e salvare un sottoinsieme del formato SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics), uno standard mantenuto dal consorzio web.

L'interfaccia utente di Inkscape è simile a programmi come CorelDraw e altri simili. Sono disponibili rettangoli, ellissi, oggetti di testo, immagini bitmap e curve libere. In più, gli oggetti vettoriali e bitmap possono avere trasparenza alpha e possono essere trasformati liberamente.

Inkscape supporta diversi file in apertura e diverse viste per file. I disegni possono essere stampati ed esportati nel formato PNG.

Alcune funzionalità di importazione ed esportazione sono fornite utilizzando i pacchetti dia, libwmf-bin, pstoedit, skencil, imagemagick e perlmagick.

Altre estensioni utilizzano ruby, libxml-xql-perl, python-numpy e python-lxml. Sono necessari questi pacchetti per fruire pienamente di tutte le estensioni ed effetti.
